CONSTRUCTION SITES
Solar energy for construction sites: power for tools and lighting
A construction site without a grid connection does not have to sit idle — with mobile solar energy systems from Mobisun you immediately have power for tools, lighting, security and communication.
From a portable power station for a supervisor or service technician to a complete Solar Trailer or solar energy container for the entire construction site: Mobisun offers scalable systems for every project phase.
Use energy from solar panels during the day, store the surplus in the integrated battery and only use a linked generator additionally when needed. This reduces generator hours, fuel consumption, noise pollution and local emissions on the construction site.
Construction power without waiting for a grid connection
A new construction site does not always have immediate access to a reliable electricity connection. A temporary grid connection can also be limited or only become available later in the project. Mobisun makes it possible to set up an independent power supply from the first project day.
- portable power stations for individual employees
- a mobile 3000Wh generator for small work groups
- a mobile Solar Trailer for temporary construction sites
- a 20ft Solar Container for medium and larger projects
- a 40ft Solar Container for heavy construction and infrastructure projects
The large Mobisun systems combine solar panels, battery storage, an inverter, 230V and 400V connections and optional or integrated generator support. The systems are designed for temporary projects, long-term off-grid use and permanent infrastructure.
What do you use solar energy for on the construction site?
Five common applications where mobile solar energy directly adds value on the construction site.
Electric tools and battery chargers
Charge batteries of drills, screwdrivers, grinders, saws, tackers, lasers and measuring equipment, inspection cameras and electrical hand tools. Smaller Mobisun power stations are particularly suitable for battery chargers and light equipment. For machines with higher continuous power or a strong inrush peak, the Portable Solar Generator, Solar Trailer or Solar Containers are more suitable.
Construction site lighting
Good lighting is needed in construction cabs, work zones, storage spaces, passageways and around temporary facilities. Energy-efficient LED lighting can be connected directly to a portable power station or to the central power distribution of a Solar Trailer or Container. The battery also supplies power after sunset, while the solar panels replenish the energy supply during the day.

Calculate which system your construction site needs
The large systems calculator on Mobisun.com contains a standard profile for a 10,000 watt construction site. In addition, a custom average power in kilowatts can be entered.
The calculator takes into account the average power consumption, an operating duration of 8, 12, 24 or 48 hours, the season, the expected solar production, the available battery capacity and the use of a backup generator. For the seasonal calculation, the calculator uses an average of seven sun hours in summer, 4.5 hours in spring and autumn, two hours in winter and 0.8 hours in cloudy conditions. The calculator then shows, among other things, the battery duration, daily solar production, energy consumption, required battery capacity and the calculated number of generator hours.
Recommended calculator setting on this page
- Application: Construction site
- Average power: 10kW
- Operating duration: 8 hours
- Season: automatic to current season or manual
- Generator: initially disabled
Show two scenarios
- fully on solar and battery
- hybrid use with generator
This allows the visitor to immediately see how many generator hours can potentially be avoided and which Mobisun system best fits.
Fewer running hours of the diesel generator
A solar energy system does not have to completely replace a generator in all situations. On construction sites with heavy machines, winter use or long-term load, a hybrid configuration can be the most reliable solution.
This is how the hybrid system works
- solar panels supply energy during the day
- the battery stores unused energy
- equipment is fed from the solar panels and battery
- the generator starts only when more energy is needed
- the generator can simultaneously feed equipment and charge the battery
All three large Mobisun systems can work together with a generator. Mobisun advises 10kVA for the Solar Trailer, 20kVA for the 20ft Container and 40kVA for the 40ft Container. The advantage is not only lower potential fuel consumption. Also during low-load work, in the evening and during the night, the construction site can be powered as much as possible from the battery.
Why Mobisun on the construction site?
