What is a power station with integrated solar panel?

A power station with an integrated solar panel is a portable battery with inverter and outputs (230V, 12V, USB) where the solar panel is built into the device itself. Nothing to connect or carry along: as soon as there is light, the battery tops itself up.

Most power stations on the market work differently: you buy a separate unit and a separate, foldable solar panel that you connect with cables and connectors. That works well — but you have to transport, position and monitor the panel separately. With an integrated panel, that step simply doesn't exist.

  • Battery, inverter and solar panel in one housing
  • No separate cables or connectors
  • Charges whenever the device stands in the light
  • Always a back-up charging source, even without a socket
  • Ideal for camping, festivals, boating and backup power

Integrated panel or separate panel?

Both systems have strengths: one offers convenience and constant charging, the other maximum charging power. These are the differences:

AspectIntegrated panel (Mobisun Pro)Separate panel + power station
ConvenienceNothing to connect — placing it in the light is enoughUnpack, position and connect the panel
TransportOne device, no extra partsTwo parts plus cables and connectors
Panel power23–29W, aimed at trickle charging and holding charge60–300W+, aimed at fast full charging
ExpandableYes — add a separate panel any timeYes — connect more or larger panels
Losing partsImpossible: the panel is inside the devicePanel or cable can be lost separately

The strength of the Mobisun Pro line: you get the convenience of the built-in panel and can still extend with a foldable panel for faster charging. See the bundles with extra solar panel.

How does a built-in solar panel work?

The technology is simple and reliable — this is how it goes from sunlight to a working socket:

  1. Sunlight on the panel
The built-in panel (23W or 29W depending on model) generates direct current as soon as there is daylight — even overcast skies already yield something.
  2. Charging the battery
The charge controller feeds that current into the LiFePO₄ battery. The battery is the buffer that stores the energy for later use.
  3. Converting to 230V
The built-in inverter converts the battery voltage into pure sine 230V AC — safe for laptops, medical devices and other sensitive electronics.
  4. Connecting devices
Plug into the 230V socket, the 12V output or the USB ports. Most models support pass-through: using and charging at the same time.

Mobisun develops and produces the Pro line itself. As a result the specifications are accurate, every part is replaceable, and service and repairs come straight from the maker — no middlemen.

What do you use it for?

A power station that recharges itself is at its best where power is scarce:

Backup power at home

During an outage you instantly have light, router and phone charger. The panel keeps the battery topped up. See also backup power for home.

🎒

Festivals, boating & on the road

Take it along, put it in the sun and power phones, cameras and cool boxes all day long.

Which capacity fits you?

A power station's capacity is expressed in watt-hours (Wh). Rule of thumb: a phone (±15Wh) charges about 8–10 times from a 154Wh battery, a laptop (±60Wh) 2–3 times, and a frugal cool box runs one to several days.

Also watch the continuous power rating: it determines which devices you can connect. A 300W inverter runs lighting, laptops and a cool box; heavier appliances need 500W or more.

Frequently asked questions

What is a power station with integrated solar panel?
A portable battery with inverter and outputs (230V, 12V, USB) where the solar panel is built into the device. It recharges itself whenever there is daylight, without connecting anything.
What is the difference from a power station with a separate panel?
With a separate panel you connect a foldable module to the power station with cables. That gives more charging power (60–300W+), but you have to carry, position and connect the panel separately. An integrated panel (23–29W) works without any action and is aimed at convenience and back-up.
Does the built-in panel charge the power station fast enough?
The built-in panel is aimed at trickle charging and holding the charge, not at fast full charging. If you want faster charging, connect a separate foldable panel (60–300W) — the Pro models support this by design.
Can I use a power station with built-in panel indoors?
Yes. You can charge the battery from a socket or USB-C, and use it anywhere — also indoors, since there are no exhaust fumes. For trickle charging, simply place it on a windowsill or outside in the light.
Which Mobisun models have a built-in solar panel?
The Mobisun Pro Air and Pro Classic have a built-in 29W panel; the Pro Air 2.0 has a 23W panel. All three can be expanded with separate foldable panels from 60W to 300W.
Can I connect an extra solar panel besides the built-in one?
Yes. The Pro line is designed for combined use: the built-in panel always trickle-charges, and with a separate panel you charge considerably faster. We offer discounted bundles for these combinations.
Why a power station with integrated panel from Mobisun?
Mobisun develops and produces the Pro line itself — no middlemen. The devices are modular and repairable, use LiFePO₄ batteries rated for 3,000+ charge cycles, and come with Dutch support and a 2-year warranty.
